Jane took a spill tonight while we were at Bible study and cut her lip pretty good. Thankfully I was surrounded by Moms who have more experience with cuts than I do. They whisked us off to the new Childrens' Hospital Urgent Care in Bellevue which took great care of Janie. Jane was an awesome patient. The doctor (Dr. Sugarman, great name for a pediatric doctor in my opinion) kept saying how wonderful and cooperative she was. They gave her conscious sedation for the stitches which caused her to behave in a slightly hilarious/adorable way while also numbing the pain. Will and Joy remained reasonably entertained with gold fish crackers, popsicles and blown-up latex gloves. We're glad to be home!
Here are some pictures from our trip to my family's house in Hansville, WA. We had a great time with the Painter family (Phil, Leah, Isaiah and baby boy due in October). Besides hanging out at the beach, we had a nice time at the Kingston Farmer's Market and the guys (of course) managed to squeeze in a round of golf at a beautiful course called White Horse. Hard to believe that we've known the Painters for 10 years!
This week and next the kids are taking their first-ever swimming lessons. It has worked out great, especially since Will, Jane and their cousin, Evey can be in the same class. Today was day three of eight and already the kids seem to be a lot more comfortable in the water. I think doing lessons every day instead of say, once/week has been great. Will, who thrives on predictability has especially benefitted from this. It also helps that Will has a mini-crush on his teacher. I'm proud of the three little squirts!
Even though Jane doesn't turn 3 until next week, we celebrated today with our family. Janie had a wonderful day starting with a trip to Krispy Kreme, fun at the park with Daddy and then a princess party. After everyone left, she insisted on carrying all of her presents upstairs and is currently sleeping in the princess castle she received as a gift from Grandma and Grandpa :-) Besides being birthday time, today was also "Take Away the Binky Forever Day." There were some tears at nap time and more whining than usual, but overall she's taking it well. We love our Princess!!
