Simons don't like Peeps

Easter candy is not my favorite, so I kind of surprised myself today when I picked up a package of Peeps on impulse while checking out at the store. I think Peeps are especially gross, or I guess a better word would be "Blah." What's to like about them? No flavor and way-too-intense sugary taste (probably why kids love them).
I'm not a candy snob--my husband will tell you that I have quite a sweet tooth and won't snub my nose at most any candy that comes my way. Easter candy is just not up to par in my opinion. Anyway, I think what made me pick up the package at the checkout is the fact that Will has been on a restrictive diet as we try to get to the bottom of his eczema (another story for another day). This was one "treat" that he can actually eat. Unfortunately, Will decided that they were "Too Scary" and wouldn't eat them. Jane took a couple bites and then stuck it on the rug. So, it's looking like my dislike of Easter candy may have already been passed down to my offspring.

John and Jammies

Here are the lone photos I've gotten so far of our new nephew, baby John. I was too excited about holding him to take many photos. I did get a few of older sister, Evey, as we got to hang out with her while Andy and Libby were at the hospital:

And here are some recent photos of the kiddies. March has been a rough month for us health-wise. It's kind of funny looking back on recent photos--lots of shots of the kids in jammies which is typically an indication that we're not feeling well. As I type, we are finally cough/ear infection/cold/barf-free and hopefully we'll be that way for at least a while!

(note: we are not Illinois bball fans in case you were going to ask because of the hat :-)

Welcome, Johnny!

We now have a nephew! John Justus Myers was born early this morning to Andrew, Libby and big sister Evey. I'm not sure if my stats are right, but according to my source, he weighed 8 lb 4 oz and is 21 inches long. Little Johnny is healthy as can be and Libby is healing very well. Evey wants to hold her new baby brother any chance she can get.
Congratulations to Andy, Libby and proud sister, Evey. I'll post pics when I get a chance to download them.

A Belated Bday Celebration for Johnny last Sunday

Nedra made a fab feast in celebration of J's birthday. Here are a few photos from the afternoon (sorry for the lack of Will pictures, he was asleep much of the day)

And here are a couple pictures from this morning around the house. Poor Will now has the cold that Jane and I just got over so he's been pretty laid back (see below). My parents came over for dinner last night which was a fun treat for him, since he always wants to play with Pa and Bubby, even if he is sick. Jane is now 9 months old, crawling and pulling herself up. She still has yet to cut a tooth but that doesn't stop her from gumming on any food she can get her hands on. We're still waiting for Baby Boy Myers to make his grand entrance. I'll be sure to update the blog when he arrives.

Make a Joyful Noise

We had a great time playing in the yard today. Will played in his "club house" on the swing set for the first time and Jane and I soaked up some sun out on the blanket. Oh, and Jane officially started crawling!

Trip to the Museum of Flight

Grandpa Dirk and Grandma "Needge" joined us yesterday as we took the kids to their first-ever visit to the Museum of Flight. Will was in heaven from start to finish and Jane (despite going on 10 days with a nasty cough and ear infection that just won't quit) had a great time being carried around to look at the scenery.

Above you'll see pictures from the past week or so. Some of the week's happenings included:
-Spent time in Monroe with the Painters, Bryson and Lindsay, and Andrew
-Got to see friends I hadn't seen in a while including Lyssa Cole and Marisa Sessions (bride-to-be)
-The kids and I got to hang out at Hotel Myers while John travelled
-Had to put poor Janie on antibiotics for the second time in her little life due to a double ear infection following a nasty chest cold.
-Enjoyed some beautiful days as well as some brief but fun white weather (hail/snow). Will had a great time throwing "hail balls" outside tonight.
