Lyssa's Birthday and Suncadia

We spent Saturday afternoon celebrating Lyssa Cole's #26. We ate lots of delicious food including freshly picked carrots from their garden and the Cole birthday tradition: DQ ice cream cake. Then, we headed east with the Simon/Farley clan. We spent the night at Suncadia, a resort about 60 miles east of Issaquah. It was beautiful over there and we'd love to go again sometime. Will had an absolute blast in the pool and slept 13 hours last night after all the fun.

Highlights

Our week in review:
-We had a fun afternoon at Lincoln Park in West Seattle with Andy, Libby and Evan Myers
-John's business associate and his brother (from Salt Lake City, UT) came to stay with us. The occasion: to watch the Red Sox sweep the M's.
-Will continues to love all things transportation. Monday is his favorite day as it's trash pick-up day and we walk around the neighborhood watching the trucks while Will makes sound effects (mostly "Bah!" and "Ckuh!")
-Jane is smiling at us
-Visits from Tia, Amy LaDue and Christy
-Dinner at Coulon Park with Great G-ma, Dirk & Nedra

Jane, meet Jane

Jane Simon got to meet Jane Tushar this week, who was a big part of the inspiration behind the name. Other events this week: swimming at the Klahanie pool and visits with friends.
In baby news, we caved in a moment of weakness and gave Jane a binky. Now she loves it and we have to play referee with poor Will constantly trying to steal it from her. We try to keep it out of his sight but he knows what's going on. Will is being such a little trooper...the poor guy is only 17 months old has no concept of sharing. At least he is learning young.
I am also learning a lot at age 26 about raising children, being a good wife, and most of all about God's grace. When both babies are screaming despite my best efforts and I feel like an incompetent parent, I am reminded that I sure as heck can't do this all on my own and I'm thankful!

2 week check-up

The past 2 weeks have been full of fun, craziness, poopy diapers, and adjustments. Having two kids so close in age is going to be a handful, but we are so excited to be starting this adventure and frequently reflect on these two little blessings from God.
p.s. happy birthday, Laurel and Aunt Betsy!
