A Day at the Zoo

We got a zoo membership for Christmas (thanks, Andrew!) and used it for the first time today. Will and his buddy, Regan enjoyed "Zoo-mazium," an indoor play area for toddlers. They had a section with African instruments, and Will especially loved the maracas. We finally had to leave when a docent handed out maracas to all the kids and Will tried to take everyone elses' and then threw a tantrum when he couldn't have them.

Most of the animals were hiding from us in their lairs (it was about 35 degrees outside), but we did see a few. Looking forward to going back when it gets a bit warmer!

Night out

We had our first overnight away from Will this past Friday. He had such a fun time with his Grandpa and Grandma Simon that I don't think he even noticed we were gone! We had a fabulous double date with Charlie and Lyssa at Canlis, which is atop Queen Anne hill in Seattle. Quite an amazing restaurant, we highly recommend it. We stayed the night in downtown Seattle and even had a view of the Puget Sound from our room (see below). We are so blessed to have such great friends and the opportunity to get spoiled once in a while!

Happy Birthday, Christy!

Had a fun night out last night with Christy and the girls in celebration of Christy's 26th birthday. What a loyal friend she has been over the years. Happy Birthday!

The sun returned for a day

What beautiful weather we had today! I don't usually mind our dreary weather all that much, but I must say it felt great to get outside for a walk and feel the warmth of the sun on our faces. Our neighbors came out of hiding too which was fun as many of them we hadn't seen since before Christmas.

This past week was special as Will and I got to spend lots of time with his great-grandparents who are visiting from Bemidji, MN.

Happenings this weekend:
-Our beloved Seahawks got killed by the Packers, but it was fun having friends and family over to watch the game with us.
-Today we went to Charlie and Lyssa Cole's house for a delicious steak dinner (complete with bernaise sauce and all) and birthday celebration for their "daughter," Clicquot (a sweet doggie). Yes, you heard me right! A birthday party for a dog. Hey, the Coles figured it would be a great excuse to have people over and they were right. We spoil our dog just as much as they do so we can't give them a hard time. Love you guys, thanks for the great meal!

This coming weekend I am spending my first overnight away from Will (tear) as John and I are staying at a hotel in downtown Seattle. We look forward to a sure to be delicious meal at Canlis with Charlie and Lyssa to start the night off right.

Happy Birthday, Evan Ainsley!

We had a fun-filled weekend. Friday, we attended a send-off party for some friends headed to Zambia to serve for a year. Click on "From Seattle to Zambia" under our links if you'd like to learn more.
Saturday was a big day in sports for Seattle with a Seahawks win and the opening of pac-10 season for the Huskies.
Our niece, Evey, had her first birthday last week and we celebrated formally with a party last night, complete with Evan's first experience with cake. She was a true lady, hardly even getting her hands dirty!
Later that evening, we headed over to Monroe to spend the night at the home of Phil & Leah and watch the Huskies lose a tough one to WSU.
My grandparents also got into town from MN this weekend, so we look forward to spending more time with them this week.

Feliz Navidad y Happy New Year!

We spent a very relaxing week with the Simon/Farley family in Los Cabos, MX and were privileged to spend Christmas swimming and enjoying the sun. Some highlights from the trip:
-Johnny and Todd singing karaoke
-Will loving the pool and loving to dance
-Lots of good food
-Boat trip to Lover's Beach where we got to see lots of seals/sea lions

When we returned, we celebrated a belated Christmas with the Myers family which was a great time as well.

Happy New Year everyone!

Here are some pictures and a few videos of the Simon holiday:
