Are we spoiled, or what?!

Will and I just returned from our second trip to Cabo in 6 weeks. We know we have it good! It was a great time with the Myers Family (Warren, Melissa and Gretchen) and many fun memories were made. John couldn't come with us, unfortunately, and we CAN'T WAIT to be reunited this week when he returns from his business trip to Chicago.

This marked Will's fourth airplane trip and I'm hoping to stay on the ground for a while, especially since we'll have two babes to tote around soon. He has got to be one of the busiest 13 month-olds around! Will sure makes friends wherever he goes, though. He loves to flash his grin and dance around until he gets peoples' attention. Will made a special friend on the trip, a 7 year-old girl at our resort who loved to carry Will into the pool and let him play with all her toys (see picture below).

The weather in Cabo was beautiful and warm enough for me to take a plunge into the ocean. Will and I both got lots of bonding time with Gma, Gpa and Tia. Here are some pictures of our adventure.

Pacific Science Center

Growing up, the Myers family spent a lot of time at Seattle's Pacific Science Center. Will isn't quite old enough to appreciate IMAX or the dinosaur exhibit, but I was feeling rather nostalgic when we went to the Children's Museum yesterday. Seems like just yesterday that I was an elementary school kid running around, going on the gyroscope, and getting lost at the Body Works exhibit. The Science Center is a wonderful place!

Baby narcolepsy or just a big birthday party weekend?

We celebrated Will's first birthday this weekend with a few friends and family. Will had a great time and got so spoiled! Thanks to everyone for helping us to love our little guy so much this first year. Besides having a party, Will also took his first steps this past week. Crawling is still his transportation of choice, but watching him coordinate his movements to take a few steps is pretty neat.

Now to the baby narcolepsy part of this blog post. I took this video a couple days ago and it's too funny not to share. Will was playing away as usual and I stopped to feed him dinner. Halfway through the mashed potatoes, he started nodding off and luckily I had time to grab my camera to catch a video of the grand finale. Here it is:

And we're having a......?

We had our 20 week ultrasound today and had planned to find out our baby's gender. Well, baby had other plans and would not let us see! Measurements and internal organs look healthy as far as the doctor can tell which is what we really care about anyway. Our inkling is a girl, as we had an ultrasound around 13 weeks and that was the tech's educated guess. Still, that was very early and not conclusive. Because baby and mom are healthy, we have no plans to have another ultrasound. So, until mid-June our chart will contine to read: Baby gender "Unknown."

This development will heighten the anticipation all the more! Can't wait to meet you, sweet baby boy/girl!

What a year it has been

Tomorrow is the big day for Will, but it really began today one year ago...this time last year I had already been in labor for many hours. My water broke at 4am on January 31st and I checked into the hospital at 11am that morning. Family rushed to the hospital to be present for the action. Well, they needn't have hurried as things were a slow go. I finally had an epidural around 6 that evening when water baths, breathing techniques and clinching my teeth and bearing the pain weren't getting me any closer to being ready to push. My dad even had time to book a flight from Salt Lake and make it to the hospital with plenty of time to spare!
Of course Will finally made it out on February 1st at 9:30 in the morning and the rest is history. What a wonderful year it has been having the privilege to be Will's mother. He is so full of joy and curiousity and I am thankful that I can spend every day watching him grow. Motherhood has already taught me many things and I am humbled by God's gift. Happy Birthday, Will!

Be careful who you kiss...

Will found a fun new play area in the Factoria Mall. Only problem is that Will still puts everything in his mouth (see below) which means germs love him. So, unfortunately, we've had a sick baby. Poor guy!

A Day at the Zoo

We got a zoo membership for Christmas (thanks, Andrew!) and used it for the first time today. Will and his buddy, Regan enjoyed "Zoo-mazium," an indoor play area for toddlers. They had a section with African instruments, and Will especially loved the maracas. We finally had to leave when a docent handed out maracas to all the kids and Will tried to take everyone elses' and then threw a tantrum when he couldn't have them.

Most of the animals were hiding from us in their lairs (it was about 35 degrees outside), but we did see a few. Looking forward to going back when it gets a bit warmer!
